ACRA
is located in Traverse City, a growing technological and industrial
center in northwestern lower Michigan. ACRA was formed 30 years ago as a contract
machine source for local industries. We grew slowly through the early
years but have always been committed to keeping abreast of the latest
in industrial technology. In our first 30 years, ACRA has transformed
itself from very humble origins into a plastic injection molder with
several in-house capabilities.
The first change from job shop machining was contract mold making. Adding in house tool design followed that expansion. A short time later, two molding machines were added for sampling. Within a few years, General Motors, one of the original tool customers, placed a few molding and assembly jobs with ACRA. Over the years, the business has expanded many times and is now located in a 30,000 square foot facility in Traverse City’s airport industrial park with a second facility also positioned in Traverse City, which houses a clean manufacturing area, tool room, and a sister company, APC. Employment has grown steadily over the years with many employment opportunities. We are a privately held, family business. In fact, our first employee has transferred from the tool room, production, and now to maintenance. Our first major market is automotive mechanical components for steering columns and controls. A second segment of our business is industrial products such as fire sprinkler components and wire spools. The third portion of our business is two-material molding. All three of these market segments offer opportunities to develop new products using cost saving and innovative solutions to old design problems. We have several new programs utilizing this technology. In most cases, they are not only cost savings, but sound engineering answers to problems. These successes are summed up with our byline, "Engineered Plastic Solutions." ACRA’s mission is: "100% Quality, 100% On Time." |
